Less Than Jake celebrates their 20th anniversary this weekend at High Dive with shows on Friday and Saturday night. LTJ will have a different setlist and opening acts for each show. These guys put on one of the most fun, awesome shows around and I’m sure a big celebration like this in their hometown won’t disappoint.
Twenty years of doing anything is a big deal, not to mention writing, rocking and touring around the world with the same handful of dudes the whole time. I don’t know how long the average lifespan of a band is but they have The Beatles beat by a decade.
In anticipation of the weekend, here’s a cool interview Glenn Richards did over at Rock104.com on the Locals Only radio show with LTJ singer and guitarist Chris Demakes. It also has a pretty nice overview of some of the band’s work throughout their career.
Also, below this post are a few photos of Less Than Jake over the years, courtesy of LTJ’s trombone player Buddy Schaub, with a selection of some of Demakes’ more colorful stage attire.
And if you can’t make it to either show this weekend, Less Than Jake teamed up with Stageit online and both shows will be streamed live at www.Stageit.com. You just have to sign in and buy a ticket on a pay-what-you-can basis. It seems like it’ll be a cool way to get in on the action from afar.
Ticket information can be found over at the High Dive website. The opening bands for Friday’s show are Supervillains, Morning Fatty and The Upside. Saturday’s show features Whole Wheat Bread, The Duppies and No More.
Lead Us Down should have some post-show coverage of at least Saturday night’s performance as well, so check back early next week for pics and a write-up of the evening’s events.

Thanks, Matt! Chris was great and it was fun playing a cross-section of their musical history, including stuff off their latest EPs (and we talked about their future recording plans, too). I also want to mention that the interview signs off with Chris requesting some NoMore, which I followed with a song from each of the other bands playing with them this weekend. Enjoy and I’ll see you at the shows!

Thanks, Glenn, see you soon!
In addition to LTJ, I effin’ LOVE No More. Probably my fave local band.
Can’t wait for tonight! I’ve always had a great time at their shows
